Sustainable Wenatchee’s 2nd annual Earth Day Fair is THIS SATURDAY at Pybus. Last year we were outside, but this year we’ve rented the LocalTel Event Center, so most of the event will be inside, with some things outside on Pybus’ back patio as well.
Like last year, we’ll have a kids’ area with activities by TEAMS Learning Center, Joyful Scholars Montessori, and more. We’ve got nearly 30 educational and informational booths! Many of these will feature kids’ activities. Outside, there will be an electric Link Transit bus that kids can check out. Plug In NCW will also have several electric vehicles on the patio and the Regional Bicycle Advisory Council will have kids bicycles as well.
And new this year, we’re having Printmade Apparel Co (from Twisp) there who will be screen-printing “There is No Planet B” Saddle Rock tee-shirts and bags! Unfortunately the design won’t fit on smaller than youth medium, but kids are welcome to bring their own blank shirts in that size or bigger, or a reusable shopping bag, etc, to be screen printed. Medium colors will work best with the design, not black or white. Shirts and bags will also be available for purchase.
As for things that will interest moms (and dads), there are several short talks throughout the day, including my “Working Towards a Zero Waste Kitchen” talk at 10 a.m.
Also, Cafe Columbia is giving away FREE drip coffee, but only for those who bring their own reusable cup! Grab your cup inside the event center (not at the cafe). In addition to educational booths, there will also be some vendors selling eco-friendly goods, including some fresh produce and reusable produce bags!
(Our Earth Day Fair is made possible by our sponsors Chelan County PUD and Link Transit, along with the donated time and talent of Printmade Apparel Company.)
