DIY: Mason jar solar lights

Here’s a project you can do anywhere. And I mean anywhere! I brought it with me camping and I love how it turned out.

The Mason Jar solar light is easy to make and you can take it anywhere and customize it according to your style. What you will need:

  • Solar light (I got mine at Walmart for about $1)
  • Mason jar with lid and ring
  • Cardboard
  • Hot glue gun
  • Scissors
  • Paint

To start the project, paint your Mason jar. The Mason jar will be the solar light cover. I painted mine with glitter, so it shimmers at night, and I just love glitter! You can also paint the jar ring, as you can see I painted mine teal, my fav color.

Once dried, trace around the lid from your jar onto the cardboard. Next, inside that circle, trace around the solar light. It should be smaller than the ring. Cut out the ring you just traced.

Remove everything from the solar light. All you need is the solar panel and light.

Next, take the ring you cut out and place it around the solar light. Glue it to secure the pieces together Next, insert light into mason jar. The light should be inside the mason jar and the solar panel should be even with the top of jar. Screw on the lid and you are done!

Set it out in the sun and when it’s dark, your light will shine. This is a fun project and so many options to make it your own!
