From Christy Walt of CDCSA:

Chelan Douglas Child Services is expanding to provide School Age Summer Child Care. We have found that there is a great need in our community for structured, curriculum based Summer Care. There are many studies that document the “summer slide” that occurs during the three-month time when children are out of school and not participating in any type of enrichment, math, science or literacy program. CDCSA is also aware that many families count on the meals provided by their child’s school for a sizable percentage of their recommended nutritional needs. CDCSA also learned that many families use older siblings, unlicensed care providers or simply leave their children home alone. To meet this community need, CDCSA has created a Summer School Age Care Program that will run from June 12 through August 25. The program will be open at 6:30 a.m. and close at 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Children will be accepted as either private pay or with State subsidy. CDCSA will provide breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack to every child.

On a side note… we are also taking applications for Early Head Start, Head Start and ECEAP funded preschool. These slots are income based and support pregnant mother through children age 5.

The Preschool age slots have all been filled (age 3-5). Toddler and school age slots are available. To qualify for school age care children must be transitioning from Kinder through 5th grade.
