Local kids hit the stage in “Elf Jr.”

Last summer I blogged about how much my daughter has blossomed while rehearsing and performing with Stage Kids Washington. The magic continues December 1, 2 and 3 at the Numerica Performing Arts Center with “Elf Jr. — The Musical.”

The story of Buddy the Elf is a well known and loved Christmastime movie, and 69 locals kids are bringing it to life right here in Wenatchee. I’ve had the privilege of hearing the songs in my home since September. I’ve had a sneak peek of the costumes and props. I know these kids are talented. You don’t want to miss it! (Click here for tickets.)

Don’t just take my word for it. Here’s what fellow SK mom, Christy Shearer, has to say: “Stage Kids has made a profound difference in my girls’ lives. They have gained confidence in themselves and their abilities, compassion for those around them, and learned better to be part of a team with a common goal. Theater skills = life skills.”

Here are Christy’s daughters, Ainsley and Cate, in past productions of “Little Mermaid” and “Annie”:

Stage Kids participants are in grades 3 – 8, but as the kids are getting older they still want to continuing singing, dancing and acting. This past summer the first Stage Teens performed “Thoroughly Modern Millie”.

Kids also have a chance to participate in summer theater camps. Here’s a photo of one last summer’s camps, “101 Dalmatians”. The puppies (younger Stage Kids) were absolutely adorable and Cruella de Vil thrilled the entire audience! Here’s the cast:

101-dalmatiansI highly recommend taking your family to see “Elf”. In fact, there are two matinees that are great for the little ones. There’s no school in the Wenatchee School District on Friday, December 2. Afternoon entertainment…done.
