Donate new and used books for local kids

reading-1090736Children who grow up in homes filled with books go further in school. According to a 2010 study, the number of books in the home has more to do with a child’s educational success than their parents’ education, occupation and class.

So now we know books matter. Here’s our chance to put books in the hands of local kids.

Wenatchee High School’s DECA program is holding a book drive. The books will go to local elementary school students and their families.

DECA is accepting new and used books for all levels of readers, from young children to adults. There are two main drop-off locations: Wenatchee High School (a cardboard box near the main entrance or Room 551) and a wooden box at Pybus Public Market. The collection boxes will be out until Nov. 21.
